Welcome to the 6th Annual Dirty South Cup Call & Exhibition, a purely virtual exhibition.
It all started with a simple premise: Give us your best mug, cup or yunomi!
River Oaks Square Arts Center was looking for a few good pieces to include in the 6th inception of the nationally acclaimed Dirty South Cup Call and Competition. We were looking for ceramic vessels (mugs, cups, yunomis) that encompass exemplary creativity, experimentation and imagination, showcasing what can be accomplished with ceramics.

MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND / MAY 8–10, 2020
Admission for the Online Art Fair will be FREE!
It was with great disappointment that we announced the cancelation of Laumeier’s 33rd Annual Art Fair due to the COVID-19 crisis, but we have adapted and are pleased to announce that Laumeier will be hosting an Online Art Fair instead!
The Annual Art Fair is a local favorite tradition that has never been canceled in its 33-year history, but the health and safety of our visitors are our top priorities. In addition to being a crucial source of funds for Laumeier, many other members of our community depend on this event for their livelihood. Our Online Art Fair will feature many of the same artists that would have been at this year’s Art Fair, with works available for purchase from each artist. Help support Laumeier and our community of artists by participating in our Online Art Fair! The dates for the fair will remain the same as planned, and it will take place over Mother’s Day weekend! Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates.

VENUE: Schacht Gallery
Saratoga Clay Arts Center, Schuylerville, NY
Saratoga Clay Arts Center’s Schacht Gallery presents LIP SERVICE, a national juried exhibition of drinking vessels, juried by nationally known Massachusetts clay artist and writer, Mary Barringer. The exhibition opens on Saturday, May 9th with an opening reception from 5-7pm and runs through July 1, 2020. All works will be available for sale in the gallery and online in our SHOP.
A cup is one of the most intimate objects that we interact with on a daily basis. When we sit with our tea, coffee or beverage of choice, we are in communion with a drinking vessel through its touch to our lips and its feel in our hands. Furthermore, when we drink with a handmade object, we are also connecting with the maker of the object, one pair of hands to another. Selected through a jurying process by nationally renowned Massachusetts-based potter Mary Barringer, this exhibition will feature 100 drinking vessels by artists from across the country– cups, mugs, teabowls, yunomi, shot cups, martini cups, bourbon cups, wine goblets, espresso mugs, tumblers and more. We seek a diverse array of objects that invite use and handling, and are made for different hands, different aesthetics and different liquids. A feast for the eyes, each object is meant to be taken home and enjoyed one beverage at a time.
